About Whisser RemoveBG

Whisser RemoveBG is a free online background remover for product photos, portraits, pets and other everyday images. An open-source AI model runs inside your browser, so the photo is processed on your device instead of being uploaded to Whisser. You can refine the cutout, place it on a new background and download it as a transparent PNG.

How to use

  1. Click Upload Image, drop a file on the page, paste an image from your clipboard, or open an image URL.
  2. Wait while the AI removes the background. The first run also downloads the AI model.
  3. Refine the result: switch between Fast and Detailed quality, use the Erase and Restore brush, or add a background, shadow, adjustments or a new canvas size.
  4. Click Download for a transparent PNG, or choose WebP or JPG from the download menu.

Frequently asked questions

Is Whisser RemoveBG free?

Yes. Removing backgrounds and downloading the results is free, and you do not need to create an account.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The background is removed by an AI model running in your browser, and your image is not sent to Whisser. Your browser does download the AI model and code libraries from public CDNs, and an image opened from a URL is fetched directly from that website.

Which image formats and sizes are supported?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP images up to 25 MB and 24 megapixels.

Can I fix edges the AI got wrong?

Yes. In the Cutout panel, use the Erase and Restore brush with an adjustable size, and undo or redo brush strokes. Switching from Fast to Detailed quality can also improve accuracy on complex edges such as hair.

What download formats are available?

You can download a transparent PNG, a WebP file or a JPG. JPG does not support transparency, so empty areas are filled with white unless you choose a background color.

Why is the first background removal slower?

The first time, your browser downloads and starts the AI model. Later runs are usually faster because the model can be reused from your browser cache.
