About the Tip Calculator & Bill Splitter
Whisser Tip & Split works out the tip on a restaurant, bar or delivery bill and splits the total between any number of people. Add sales tax, choose whether to tip before or after tax, round everyone's share up to a whole amount, or split by shares when people ordered different amounts. When you are done, copy a tidy summary to paste into your group chat.
How to use
- Enter the bill amount and pick your currency.
- Tap a tip percentage, or choose Custom to type your own.
- Optionally add sales tax and decide whether to tip on the pre-tax amount.

- Turn on Round up if you want whole amounts, then copy the summary and share it.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I tip?
It depends on the country and the service. In the United States, 15% to 20% is typical at sit-down restaurants, while in many other countries a service charge is already included and a small tip or rounding up is enough. Pick a preset or enter your own percentage.
Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?
Etiquette guides usually suggest tipping on the pre-tax amount, which is the default here. Turn off Tip on pre-tax amount if you prefer to tip on the total including tax.
How does Round up work?
Round up raises each person's share to the next whole amount, so nobody has to deal with coins. The extra goes to the tip, and the calculator shows the tip percentage you actually end up leaving.
How do I split a bill unevenly?
Switch to By shares, add each person and give them a number of shares. Someone with 2 shares pays twice as much as someone with 1, which works well for couples or people who ordered more.
What if the bill does not divide evenly?
Amounts are calculated to the cent so they always add up to the exact total. When there is a leftover cent, the calculator tells you which people pay one cent more.
Is the tip calculator free and private?
Yes. It is free, needs no account and runs entirely in your browser. Your last settings are only remembered in this browser's local storage.
