About the Typing Speed Test
Whisser Typing Speed Test measures how fast and how accurately you type, in words per minute (WPM). It is a quick way to check your level and practice to get faster.
How to use

Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute counts every correctly typed character, including the spaces after correct words, divides by five (the standard length of a word) and then divides by the test time in minutes. Raw WPM uses every character you typed, right or wrong.
What is a good typing speed?
Most people type around 35 to 45 WPM. 60 WPM or more is fast and well suited to office work, and above 80 WPM is excellent. Accuracy matters too: aim for 95% or higher.
How is accuracy measured?
Accuracy is the share of your keystrokes that were correct when you typed them, including spaces. Fixing a mistake with Backspace does not undo the original error, so accuracy reflects how cleanly you typed.
What does consistency mean?
Consistency shows how steady your speed was from second to second. 100% would mean exactly the same raw speed every second; lower values mean bursts and pauses.
Can I go back and fix a mistake?
Yes. Use Backspace to correct the current word. If a previous word has an error you can backspace into it, and Ctrl+Backspace (Option+Backspace on Mac) clears a whole word.
Is the typing test free and private?
Yes. It is free with no account needed. Everything runs in your browser, and your personal bests are stored only on this device.
